History
LEARN was established in 2004 and developed to assist underserved schools in the communities of Whittier, Pico Rivera and El Monte and portions of unincorporated Los Angeles County.
In 2005, LEARN acquired the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grant for three schools in the communities it serves.
In February 2007, LEARN expanded its partnership with local schools to utilize state and grant funds and developed the ASPIRE & KidsPlay programs, which provide after-school programming and a recreational league for students in elementary and middle schools.
In July 2007, LEARN was funded with the 21st Century Community Learning Center grants to further expand after-school programming and developed PREP programming for high school students.
