On Saturday, January 30, 2016, LEARN’s Scooper Heroes served over 500 scoops of ice cream to the community during Free Cone Day at Emmy Doo’s Ice Cream Shop in Uptown Whittier. The 500 scoops were served in celebration of our Scooper Heroes having fund-raised over $6,000 during LEARN’s 1st Annual Scoop-A-Thon benefiting LEARN’s programs. Mayor Dutra kicked off our Free Cone Day by volunteering his time to be our Guest Scooper Hero!
All proceeds from Scoop-A-Thon will go directly to LEARN’s programs to provide Youth from low-income areas with:
- College-Career Readiness
- Academic Assistance and Enrichment
- Leadership and Life Skills
- Sports and Recreation
Emmy Doo’s Ice Cream Shop is a social enterprise of LEARN. Every dollar spent at the shop goes to supporting LEARN’s Programs. The LEARNer Program at Emmy Doo’s Ice Cream Shop is one of LEARN’s Programs and provides high school students wit their first work experience and college-career readiness.
